Openblik is an open-source holder for deposit cans and bottles that can be attached to existing public bins. Instead of throwing deposit containers into the bin, they can be left beside it where they remain visible and easy to collect.
The holder is designed specifically for 3D printing. Flexible flaps adapt to different sizes of cans and bottles, while an integrated one-way zip tie allows it to be printed as a single part and attached without additional hardware. The design prints without supports and can be produced on a standard desktop 3D printer.
Rather than depending on a municipality or organisation to implement the idea, anyone can download, print and install Openblik themselves. The files are freely available through openblik.org, allowing the project to spread through many small, individual interventions.
