Neckphones are a pair of headphones designed to be worn around the neck instead of over the ears. The headphones are made from soft laser-cut felt, with speakers built into both sides and directed upwards towards the wearer. This keeps the ears open to surrounding sounds while still making the audio clearly audible to the person wearing them.
When not in use, the headphones fit into a cast concrete holder. The soft felt and heavy concrete create a strong contrast, and the holder turns the headphones into a more sculptural object when they are placed in a room.
The project combines a familiar function with an unusual shape and way of wearing it, while still working as an actual pair of headphones.
